Previous | Contents | Next Download the eBook "That process has two distinct stages—before and after the shoot. The first sells the booking, the second is the up-sell…" High-end photographers have been selling albums profitably for as long as we’ve been in business, but for many today it seems a lost art. Why? Obviously the world has changed — "shoot-and-share" and "just the files" are seductive ideas, and so is selling online. And who needs the hassle of getting people into the studio, playing nice, offering them bubbles and selling To View More >>
A while ago I suggested "keeping it simple" was a great goal ... but not simple to achieve in a complicated job like photography. But I did suggest you could do it with Queensberry. Take our Design Service. There are benefits to doing your own album design, so what I'm about to say isn't going to work for everyone. But if you're snowed under or uncomfortable with album design it's worth serious thought. Say on average you spend 3-4 hours on each album design ... and many people do spend a lot more. Send them to Queensberry and you've just freed up at least a day. You can bet that at this time of To View More >>

Yesterday we introduced you to our Good Better Best product matrix, designed to help you navigate our products and services. We designed our new price lists, which you can download here, to match. Maybe the best thing about them is that they're SIMPLE. The prices for each range of products fit comfortably on a single page. No jokes, please, but that’s a step forward! How did we do that? More than 95% of you now order our albums and books in Photojunction, printed and fully assembled, so that's what the price list assumes you're doing. If you're interested in DIY, contact us and we'll send you To View More >>

Rugby World Cup fever is gripping New Zealand at the moment, which ties in nicely with my topic (sort of). Twenty teams are here to be beaten by the mighty All Blacks. (Go you good things!) OK, all the teams want to win, but only one can. Whereas our goal is to deliver the best possible books and albums, so everyone wins. How's that for cheesy? But we mean it! We have had an influx of press book orders over the last few months and nearly everybody has been over the moon about them. However not everyone has had the same warm fuzzy feeling. Why? Often it's the nature of the product itself. Press To View More >>

Today we're announcing free album design and free standard colour correction on all our professional albums - Flushmount, Overlay Matted, Classic Matted and Duo. Here's why... When we're discussing how we can improve our products and services, we ask ourselves three questions: Can we make it fun? Will it save you time? Will it make you money? This time we're aiming for all three :) Many of our customers pay us to colour correct their images. Many pay us to design their albums as well. Many more wish they could afford to do the same. ALL OF YOU are going to enjoy one of two things. A fresh chance To View More >>

I wrote this post two years ago and for some reason never published it, but I think it makes some good points about simplicity and not confusing price and payoff. See what you think... We had an interesting email from a client who also deals with a certain other album company (shame on him – LOL). This company makes a big deal about simplicity … and quite right too. Anyway, he asked them if they'd consider introducing some - gulp - options, and to his frustration they said No. Now to be fair, over the years we've got better at saying No to things that compromise either the integrity of our To View More >>

Are you showing people what you want them to buy? I'll bet you're not. This is important, and so simple... Why does the "business you" want to sell albums? Because they're a surefire way to create extra income from two scarce resources - your time and your wedding bookings. I just got off skype from a photographer complaining because she can't sell albums. Wants to … but can't. But look at her website, or almost any photographers' website, and how many albums do you see? Almost none. How many photographers are showing what they (want to) sell? Almost none. So what's the difference between them To View More >>

[caption id="attachment_12140" align="alignleft" width="300" caption=""Hi, my name's Angelique!""][/caption] Who drank the Koolaid? - Ed. Sometimes when I'm on the phone with clients, we start talking about different album companies. Typically, we gush about how gorgeous Queensberry albums are. Occasionally, on the other end is someone who has never actually seen a Queensberry book. I still gush. They question it. After all, I work for the company – of course I say it's best? Here's the thing, I tend to only want to work for companies I can stand by. While I've had a few bumps along To View More >>

How much is Workspace worth to you? That depends on what you do with it. We've got people clearing really good money from event photography. They upload the images, apply a price list, publish the collection, and we do the rest. We're told the best part is getting the confirmation emails on your phone! We've got people who'd rather self-fulfil (use their own lab). That's cool, we like loyal customers too. It's more work for you, and you need a Pro plan, but we don't charge commission and the money goes straight into your account. We've got people selling to places they never could before. Have you ever wanted a Photojunction or Workspace tech sitting on your shoulder as you work? We have introduced a new service which is a little more comfortable for us and most likely a little less painful for you (trust me, I'm not a featherweight). Live chat is a new feature you'll find in Queensberry Workspace (in fact on all our web and blog pages). If you are used to instant messaging such as SMS messenger, this will be a walk in the park for you. Whenever you see a green logo like this one, it means there's someone available at Queensberry to talk to you right now. If it's a different colour, To View More >>
